Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the shareRide mobile application (“shareRide”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. shareRide is operated by Inclusion Tech, based in Kigali, Rwanda. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
01Information we collect
We collect only what the service needs to match riders, verify users, and process fair payments.

02How we use your information
- To match passengers and drivers travelling the same way and suggest pickup points.
- To calculate fares transparently from the trip’s real fuel cost.
- To verify identity and keep the community safe.
- To process payments through our payment partners.
- To send ride notifications (booking confirmations, updates).
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
03Location data
With your permission, shareRide uses your device’s approximate and precise location to find nearby commutes, suggest realistic pickup and drop-off points, and name recognizable places along a route. Location is used only while you are using the app for these features.
04Identity verification
To offer rides as a driver, you upload a photo of a government-issued ID and a selfie. These are used solely to confirm you are a real, identifiable person and are reviewed by our team before your account is approved to drive. We do not use them for any other purpose and store them no longer than needed for verification and safety records.
05Payments
Fares are paid by Mobile Money or card. Payment is processed by our payment partners (including MTN Mobile Money via Paypack). We share the amount and the Mobile Money number needed to complete the charge; we do not store full card numbers or your Mobile Money PIN. Payment partners process your data under their own terms and privacy policies.
06Who we share information with
- Other users: a limited profile (name, verified status, and trip-relevant details) is shown to the driver or passenger you are matched with.
- Payment partners: to process and settle fares.
- Service providers: mapping and geocoding (Google Maps Platform), hosting, and push-notification delivery, acting on our behalf.
- Legal: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and platform.
07Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal and safety obligations, and resolve disputes. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data except where we must retain limited records (for example, transaction records) under applicable law.
08Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to respond promptly to any issue.
09Your rights and choices
- Access & correction: view and update your profile in the app.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Permissions: control location, camera, photos, and notifications from your device settings.

10Children
shareRide is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove the information.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
